This is an off-shore transit in the Pacific Ocean, from Puerto Vallarta on the Mexican mainland, around Cabo San Lucas, and up the Baja Peninsula and the coast of California to San Francisco Bay. This is a challenging voyage, most of it upwind, with lots of opportunity to practice navigation and helmsmanship.Do you have an adventurous spirit? Do you relish the idea of a hands-on sailing experience with fellow shipmates along the Pacific coast? Have you ever wanted to see firsthand the rich marine life that John Steinbeck described in The Log From the Sea of Cortez, or the rugged California coastline that Richard Henry Dana sailed in Two Years before the Mast?If so, we invite you to come sail aboard 82-foot schooner SEAWARD. Grab your duffel bag, bring an adventurous spirit, and join a small group of fellow shipmates, as Schooner SEAWARD journeys north to her homeport. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Puerto Vallarta is at once full of history, yet modern and vibrant, charming and friendly, with relaxing beaches, world class restaurants, all in a setting of mountains, rivers, coastline, and the emerald green of the Pacific Ocean. Stroll the Malecón, Puerto Vallarta’s promenade along the city’s historic center and waterfront, with many cafés and nightclubs, and open air sculptures.

San Francisco, CA
"Baghdad by the Bay", in the words of the late, great Herb Caen, one of San Francisco's favorite columnists, this city offers so much. The bay is one of the best natural harbors in the world, with a narrow entrance spanned by the Golden Gate Bridge, cut millenia ago through the coastal mountain range by rivers flowing from California's great Central Valley. Container ships, Naval vessels, ferries, sailing ships, sailboats, and wind surfers all navigate in this beautiful bay, which for most months of the year has an impressive wind-flow through the Golden Gate, as dependable as clockwork. There are few thrills that compare to passing under the Golden Gate Bridge in a sailing ship.
