Baltimore Harbor, Maryland
Baltimore is well known for it's schooner race annual event.

Starting in the late 1970's Schooner Pride of Baltimore, a replica of the original Baltimore Clipper designed for the War of 1812, was built as a center piece for the beginning of Baltimore's urban renewal initiatives. Today's harbor is remarkably different as you will see.

Portsmouth, Virginia
Portsmouth is located on the western side of the Elizabeth River, directly across from Norfolk, Virgina, as part of the harbor of Hampton Roads.

In 1620, shipbuilder John Wood recognized the area's shipbuilding potential and petitioned King James I for a land grant. During the American Civil War, the shipyard, then named the Gosport Shipyard, was seized and twice burned by Confederate forces. Following the recapture of Portsmouth and Norfolk by Union forces, it was renamed the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and continues to be an important place for the building, repairing, and remodeling of Navy ships of all kinds. A ferry boat carries passengers between downtown Norfolk and Olde Towne Portsmouth.
