Vessel Details - Sea Shell

About the Sea Shell
SV Sea Shell is a 2-masted, gaff-rigged, topsail schooner, with 5,500 square feet of sail, measuring 118 feet in length, 21 feet in beam, and her draft is 9 feet. She is steel-hulled, built in Holland in 1920, and had her most recent major refit in 1999. Her cabins are all air-conditioned, equipped with wash-basins, and have one or two upper bunks for children, if desired. Her shared bathroom facilities include 4 showers (one on deck) and 4 toilets. She is fully equipped with a 300 hp diesel auxiliary engine, and modern electronic navigation & communications equipment.

Sea Shell's crew consists of the Captain, an engineer, dive instructor, chef, 2 stewardesses and 2 deckhands. Sea Shell is well equipped for water sports, with 2 two-person kayaks, snorkeling equipment, windsurfing boards, and fishing tackle. Her tender has a 50 hp outboard engine for waterskiing and wave riding. If you are daring, you can swing from the rigging and drop into the clear blue water.

What excites most vacationers is how remote the Seychelle islands are, positoined in the middle of the Indian Ocean, distant from both Africa and India. The islands are reknowned for their exceptional beauty, sparkling clear water, and carefully preserved flora and fauna, including many endemic species. There are two UNESCO World Heritage sites on the islands, as well as National Parks and Reserves amounting to 46% of the the islands total land area. The residents are justifiably proud of their home.
