Experience exciting sailing odysseys aboard the historic
Dirigo II. Come feel the rhythm of nature with a sense of serenity and adventure while sailing the open sea. Guests can get a first-hand feel for sailing and crewing by helping with raising the sails, steering and other on-deck activities. No sailing experience is required, just a sense of adventure and a willingness to participate.
Dirigo II is a lovely, John Alden-designed, double top-masted schooner, built in East Boothbay, Maine, and launched in 1946. She completed a circumnavigation in the 1960's, and competed in the 1953 Trans-Pac race to Hawaii. An authentic gaff-rigged, wooden-hulled vessel, Dirigo II was designed to be capable of sailing in any ocean, any weather, as did her predecessors, 19th century cargo-carrying schooners sailing the east and west coasts of the United States.
Dirigo II is available for day sails and longer charters, and is no longer doing scheduled voyages.
